Broken, Beautiful & Beloved at Graymoor

Kintsugi in process by Mary DeTurris Poust

Broken, Beautiful & Beloved at Graymoor

So often we imagine that in order to be loved we must become better, different, perfect. But what if the things we think need to be “fixed” in order to make us more lovable – flaws and weaknesses, mistakes and sins – are the very things that make us beautiful in our own way? In this retreat, we will use Psalm 139 as a touchstone and will learn to see our brokenness as a beauty mark instead of a scar. We will use prayer, stories, humor, journaling, music, and more to begin to remove the filters that color our vision and see ourselves as God does — wonderfully made, imperfections and all. This retreat will include silent breakfasts, optional meditative movement AND a real bonus: an included Kintsugi pottery workshop! This is my dream version of this retreat, so please join us. The Saturday morning of this retreat will include (in the all-inclusive price) a two-hour workshop where you will have the chance to create your own Kintsugi pot. You’ll break the pottery, glue it back together, and use filling to make it even more beautiful because it has been broken. (Just like people!) The pottery in the image for this event is from a kintsugi workshop I did a few years ago, to give you an idea.
